I wanted to follow-up on my experiences with getting rid of my connection reset by peer errors. First, I tried the client-side RUBiS code provided by Remigius Kuzyna. I found one small bug in it which I have reported to the author. When using bridged network via my onboard RTL8168 ethernet card, the errors don't occur. When i go to do /server servername to connect to another server it connects me to the server for maybe half a second and then disconnects me saying "connection reset by peer". Change it back to 21, and like clockwork when I hit 48k of data transferred - Connection reset by peer. Given that I can get the initial connection and that I've had no trouble in the past establishing ftp connections on port 21, it doesn't seem like my firewall configuration is the issue.

The cause could be a TCP timeout, a lack of disk space, ETC. Try transferring the file using FTP without using Java, using a command line utility.
